Thanks for help so far in trying to get MCE 2005 to work with a
Motorola DCT-700 box on Comcast. Like many users around the world, MCE
changes channels perfectly when viewing Live TV, but the box somehow
misses the first digit of a given channel change for a scheduled
recording, and therefore does not change channels (let alone to the
right channel...)
I've checked to make sure the teardrop is located on the IR receiver,
covered it in tape and played with the keyinterval etc. settings in the
registry (although I haven't found any posting that refers specifically
to values that work on my STB). I've scoured several discussion boards
for suggestions, but none of the changes has made a blind bit of
difference, apart from to make changing channels slower in live mode!
I am finding the fact that I lack a massive piece of functionality
extremely frustrating. Furthermore, there doesn't seem to be complete
consensus on what actually causes the problem.
Please:
1) Could someone articulate the last word in what the problem actually
is?
2) Could someone offer me some concrete actions for how to get my STB
working?

HP m1270n (refurbished, bought from direct HP)
Motorola DCT-700 digital set top box, from Comcast
Media Center Edition 2005, Version 5.1.2700.2230, Service Pack 2
All Windows updates installed
