Cannot send email and seems to be a spam filter issue but works on my XP
PC Outlook. This is an IMAP corporate account.
With WM5 all I would get is send failed, I upgraded to WM6 and it now
tells me what is wrong (see below the message stating I need SMTP
Authentication on).
Outbound Email Policy of The Spamhaus Project for this IP range:
This IP range has been identified by Spamhaus as not meeting our policy
for IPs which should deliver 'direct-to-mx' mail to PBL users.
Important: If you are using any normal email software such as Outlook,
Entourage, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, and you are being blocked by this
Spamhaus PBL listing when you try to send email, the reason is simply
that you need to turn on "SMTP Authentication" in your email software
settings (Tools : Accounts : Properties : Outgoing Mail Server : check
"My server requires authentication").
However, I do have this enabled on my phone’s outlook settings for SMTP
Auth enabled.
Here is what works and doesn't with sending email:
Phone over the air - no good
Phone connected to home WiFi - no good
Phone connected to PC USB - no good
Phone connedcted to PC USB and PC connected to corp VPN - good...
However my PC does not need to be connected to the VPN to send email.
Does SMTP Authentication on WM6 really work?
Any thoughts would be appreciated?
Thanks, Rob
