I have had Windows XP MCE for several years now. It has worked fine up until
2 months ago. I have recorded Many TV shows and burned them to disc. Suddenly
I can't burn DVDs in media center. I get the error message
authoringserverexe.exe error. I have tried to unistall my Click to DVD
software and reinstall it and update it.
Now when I open Media center and click on My tv it says that files needed
for playing radio or Tv are missing or corrupt.
I have seen some other people have had the same issues but I do not see any
answers. One person who seems to have the exact same problem wrote about it
way back in 2005.

Q: I have been getting frequent errors while burning DVDs in “Create DVD.”
Mode. The error states: “AuthoringServerExe.exe has encountered a problem and
must close.” It also mentions, “Version 2.3.1.11100, Sonicmpegaudio.dll.”
A: Unfortunately, none of our Experts here today have seen this issue. You
may wish to post this question to the Media Center newsgroup. A list of all

It's not that the sonic burn engine that comes with MCE2005 needs to be
reinstalled is it?

To do this, goto Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove windows components, then
unselect "Sonic DVD and CD Burning", ok out, then repeat but this time
select it.

Sorry - I missed the fact that you now can't watch live TV (presumably you
can still watch stuff you have recorded?)

I think I'd try getting the most up to date drivers for your TV card, and
installing them.
