Hi
I have been trying to sort out watching my sky channel on my pc but having
no luck, most sites give me explainations which i do not understand. I
brought a phillips pc with an tv card intergrated into the machine with an
aerial port at the back.

from the control panel i can confirm the card i have is AVerMedia M103
MiniPCI Hybrid VB-T. So far have connected an aerial cable (RF) from my sky
box to my pc. i have scanned a few times and nothing being received.

What am i doing wrong

I would expect the aerial socket to be for the DVB-T (Freeview) tuner. Do you
have any other sockets that you can connect e.g. s-video? What does you PC
manual tell you to do?

Yeah sorry it is DVB-T card. The manual doesnt really go into depth about
media centre. Ive tried attaching an arial without the sky box but still not
finding anything, all i want really is to get what ever channel im watching
in the sky box to pop up on my media centre

From the Avermedia website it seems this tuner does both DVB-T and good old
analogue.

See http://www.avermedia.com/cgi-bin/products_odm_M103.asp

The only way this card will work with Sky is by using either the RF tuner
input (for analogue) or preferably the S-Video input (if your Sky box has an
S-Video output).

You can think of this approach as being like connecting an old VHS tape
recorder to your Sky box.

You would also need to use the Microsoft Infra-Red emitter to change
channels on your Sky box.

I get the impression this card is for a laptop, I would hardly consider a
laptop suitable for connecting a Sky box which cannot be moved. Most people
therefore would be using this card for either DVB-T, or (while it still
exists) getting the over the air analogue terrestrial services. If your
serious about doing this you should consider using a desktop computer with a
Digital-Everywhere FireDTV or FloppyDTV DVB-S2 model.
