I am trying to get these parcel numbers and maps that my company bought
from the city to show and print in Auto Cad (or if I have to, Arc
View). What i got was a bunch of files including .SHPs and .DBFs, I can
easily put the shape files in to autocad and i can see the lot lines
and what not, but I have no idea how to make the information for the
lots show (the Parcel numbers). When I put the .SHP files in ArcView I
am able to use the info button and click each plot and pop-up comes up
with all the info which is better than Cad cause atleast I get the
info, but I need it to show right on the map. If you have ideas as to
what I can do please let me know.

Just to give a little backround on exactly what I am doing I bought a
few sqaures of infomation from the city that shows the lots of many
houses, businesses, and vacant lots. I need to print out some pages
that show certain streets or cross streets with some of the info I
purchased mostly just the parcel number. Somewhere in the .dbf it says
the X and Y coordinates that match up with the lines in the shape
files. I can get access to AutoCad 2K, 2K2, & 2K5 if that makes a
difference and I am not sure what version of ArcView i am using but it
is the only one I can use.

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you need any more info, or maybe even a copy of some of the files
let me know.

Thanks,

Nick ;)

I think what you want is to ask ArcView to label the features.

I don't use ArcView itself as ArcMap is now more common. But
you can get the free download ArcExplorer which will do this
as well, and the steps within ArcView are likely to be quite
similar.

If you display the features in ArcExplorer, for example, select
the layer, right-click it, choose Layer Properties, choose the
Labels tab, then choose the field you want as a label from the
pull-down menu marked "Label features using:" and click OK.

Hope this helps.
