I almost wanted to chose CCNow as the payment system, until I ran
through their Client's agreement, which contains some parts I don't
like.

Things like "you will prominently display on your site a statement that
CCNow is the Authorized Online Retailer from whom Customers may purchase
my Merchandise" and so on. CCNow's understanding is that they are the
retailer, they own the customer and you are just a supplier etc. A bit
too much self-promotion for my tastes. Who do they think they are ?

CCNow even reserves the right to charge higher prices to the customers,
i.e. you sell something at 50, they could charge the customer 100 and
keep the difference.

I need a payment system through which to accept credit card payments,
the customers are my customers not the customers of the payment system
and which doesn't change the prices (except for a small fixed fee) -
period.

On the other hand the sales volume will initially be low, so the monthly
fixed fees should be low or, better, zero. The payment system should
finance itself through a percentage of the sales.

Any suggestions ?

Check out PayPal' snew Pro-Merchant program - it looks pretty good to me.
Supposedly totally transparent to the user. Someone else told us about it
(Charles, I think?) last week or so.
