Hi,
I have quite a number of video (WMV) files that I've created over the
last few years. I have them organized by playlist in a variety of ways. I
have clips, video, movies, etc. that are categorized and sorted for
convenient access. The video files number in the hundreds. The playlists
conform to Windows Media Player 10 format. I'd like to use those same
playlists within MCE 2005. The approach that MCE uses in terms of
dynamically building playlists based upon directory search path
specifications is nice but way too slow with so many files involved, and also
easily breaks when external drive letters change.
I tried to simply copy my existing playlists into the MY PLAYLISTS folder
that MCE uses to house MUSIC playlists created through MCE. I thought I
could gently 'prod' MCE into letting me access those playlists via it's MUSIC
menu and then perhaps it might play the videos when it realized the entries
in the playlists were for video WMV files rather than for music WMA files (as
the standard Windows Media Player does).
I had no luck.
So my question is 'can I use my existing playlists in MCE'? If not, is
there some way to construct an explicit 'video' playlist via MCE in a manner
analogous to the way it lets you build a 'music' playlist?
Thanks,
Zarbiker
