After upgrading to ActiveSync 4.1 I cannot sync. The application is crashing
when it starts to look for changes. From looking in the crash report sent to
Microsoft I get the following information:
AppName: wcesmgr.exe         AppVer: 4.1.4841.0         ModName: msvcr71.dll
ModVer: 7.10.3052.4         Offset: 000029c1
I did the detect and repair, deleted the activesync partnership and created
it again. I also tried to uninstall AS 4.01 and reinstalled AS 3.8 on my pc
just to find out that now the AS 3.8 cannot start at all. So I upgraded back
to AS 4.01. Eventually, I found out that if I omit the option to sync the
calendar, the sync is successful on all the others. Whenever I turn on the
sync of the calendar the crash happens again.
How can I fix it?
I use: Windows XP, Outlook 2003 (all updates from Microsoft update have been
installed), the PDA is iPAQ 4150 PocketPC Version 4.20.0 (Build 13252)

msvcr71.dll is a standard DLL, so I'm not sure what's crashing in it.
Can you try uninstalling and reinstalling Office? Also try running
ScanPST against your outlook.pst file - see
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/scanpst.htm for further info and
instructions.

As I am currently travelling I do not have the Office CD with me. I will try
that on Wednesday. Anyway, as I said I did try the Detect and Repair of
Office, and it did not find any error.
I did however run the ScanPST, which found and corrected some errors. That
did not help, and I still crash and get the message: "The instruction at
"0x7c168f1d" referenced memory at "0x0000001c". The memory could not be read."

Are you running any Outlook add-ins? Try disabling them.

I forgot to mention that I did also try to disable the add-ins. Same result.
