Tried to open it while I was holfing onto the opposite corner, Now I
have a diagonal crack across the upper left corner, from the camera to
the volume - button.
Anyone have an idea what a new screen costs for the Vaio TR1A?

Hi Doug -

A new part is going to be expensive. See:

Maybe eBay?

The only hit I got on ebay is an outfit offering TR1 "screen repair"
for $75.00 flat rate. I figured it must be a scam.

Well, I guess I have an excuse to buy that faster, thinner, higher
capacity model now. First, I'll check the used laptop parts dealer at
the local computer show this weekend...

Try here:
http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/ I've purchased parts and they are
reputable. Also, this company provides excellent Vaio service, verified
on the forum http://pub173.ezboard.com/bunofficialsony,
http://www.aqstech.com/cables.html.
