I've upgraded from a HP Jornada to an IPAQ 2490 and therefore to ActiveSync
4.1. Suddenly I can't sync via bluetooth anymore. I didn't change the
configuration of the laptop, so bluetooth com port is still COM5 and
ActiveSync is still listening on COM5.
On the laptop ActiveSync starts to look for the device but the IPAQ doesn't
react.
I read the help file and saw what I'm supposed to do:
a.. In ActiveSync on the device, tap Menu, then tap Connect via Bluetooth.
Well, there is no option "Connect via Bluetooth". There is "Connect via IR"
but no bluetooth.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Hi,
I assume you have been able to sync successfully prior to this. Did you try
performing a soft reset?

Please log in for more thread options I have been able to sync my old Jornada with my laptop via bluettoth smoothly,
before the switch to the new IPAQ.
I've done a soft reset, a hard reset and a clean reset but it didn't change
anything concerning that missing option in the menu. :(

Please log in for more thread options Just a few initial questions and comments:
1) Can you confirm that your new IPAQ 2490 is in fact running Windows Mobile
5.0?
2) Is your IPAQ 2490 Bluetooth actually turned "on"? To check, on the
show/hide quoted text
device go to 'Start -> Settings ->Connections ->Bluetooth' and check the
'Turn on Bluetooth' check-box. Also check the 'Make this device
discoverable to other devices' check box. After doing this, check to see if
the 'Connect via Bluetooth' option is now present in ActiveSync on your
device.
3) Once you have turned on device bluetooth and made the device
discoverable, try to create a bluetooth partnership between the PC and the
device once again. Initiate this process from the PC using the 'Bluetooth'
control panel in Windows XP. Find the 'Devices' tab in the Bluetooth
control panel and click the 'Add...' button. Then go through the Wizard to
set up your bluetooth partnership.
4) Once you have established a bluetooth partnership between your device and
PC, you should be able to use ActiveSync on the device to 'Connect via
Bluetooth' successfully.

Please log in for more thread options 1) As OS-Version it says: Windows CE 5.0
That is WM5, right?
2) Bluetooth is turned on since I can pair it with my laptop without any
problems. It's just the ActiveSync part that doesn't work. I can also use my
cell phone as a modem for the IPAQ via bluetooth, works perfectly. It is set
to be discoverable.
3) I've deleted the old pairing and created a new one without any problems.
4) Still no "Connect via bluetooth" in the activesync menu. :(
I've seen in the advanced settings of the bluetooth serial port service that
I can set an incoming and an outgoing com port. Do I have to configure
anything there to make activesync work?
