I recently installed a new tuner card to replace a defective one. Now the
remote does not work although I can see the IR signal is being sent and
received on the receiving box.
Is there something to configure and if so how do I do it? Vista Ultimate
with Windows Media Center being used.

You are using the same remote and receiver you just changed the tuner or did
you replace the remote/receiver as well?

You may have to have the remote recognized by MCE again, do you have a
set-top box from your TV provider as well?
This is done in Media Center setup, start Media Center, select
Tasks-settings, thn in General go thru the Media Center setup again and then
in the TV section do the Setup TV Signal section again. If you have a set-top
box and it has a remote also, you'll need that during the setup so that MCE
can recognize the set-top model.

Hi, "Chappy" and thank you for your remarks.

I had already run setup again but ran it again once more with no luck. I
don't have a cable box and am just connected directly to the cable. WMC
works fine and I can start it using my mouse; it's just the remote that does
not work although I can see that it is emmitting a signal to the remote
receiver since a red light comes on. It's just that nothing happens after
that.

I'll try re-installing the old defective Tuner card to see if the remote
works with that as it did before I changed it out. The old tuner card was
changed because it appeared to be causing the computer to lock up once WMC
had been started.

I'm wondering however whether the remote has anything to do with the tuner
card.

If the remote works with the old card then the remote is OK and it must be a
software issue and I have no idea what I can do further. I don't believe I
can reinstall WMC itself since it is a part of Vista Ultimate.

Let me know if you have any further ideas or if you can confirm whether the
remote has anything to do with the tuner card. I appreciate your help.

Joe, check out device manager to see if your IR receiver is properly
'drivered up' and working properly. The light indicator means it is talking
to the remote, but it may not be talking to the computer.
