 I cannot use the Media center because I cannot download the necessary Codec.
When I try to validate my version of Windows I am unable to do so because the
ActiveX window does not show even with the alternate procedure. I have a
valid Windows version.

You must use Internet Explorer as FireFox can't use active X.
