Clie TJ37 - two questions: Mark Rathgeber 07-07-2004

Actually, only the first question is about the TJ37:

Has anyone had much/any trouble with it? I'm about ready to buy one, but
I'm kinda trying to buy one from a vendor that has a service contract
provision. Trouble is, the lowest priced ones that I can find don't usually
have a service contract option. So, my question is, have they been prone to
any particular problems? Maybe I really don't need a service contract,
anyway. I just know that I would hate to put around $250 into a new PDA,
and then find out that it goes bananas on the first day after the factory
warranty expires. Any thoughts?

Second question: I tried to register on Clie Source, which is now
apparently "1 Source," in order to post the above issue on the "TJ forum,"
but I can't get their registration wizard to send me an e-mail to complete
the registration process. I sent them a "need help" e-mail, but so far, no
response. I really like reading their forum posts, but I can't seem to
complete the registration. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks,

Mark

I have owned a Clie TJ37 since February and have only minor problems
with it. The problems are: (1) Unable to hotsync with my desktop PC
using my wireless home network and (2) Unable to connect to some
public WiFi's such as Panera's Bakery. Other than that, I am
generally pleased with my unit. It has a sharp screen, fast
processor, and reads graffiti accurately. The digital camera is OK for
candid shots, but I not as capable as a true digital camera. The USB
hostsync capability works well. The WiFi works well to surf the
Internet with T-Mobile's Hot Spot WiFi service as well as with my home
Netgear wireless router. I have not used the Sony Forum so I cannot
comment on it.
