We have several clients with Cisco Unified Messaging. They are starting to
use ActiveSync and AUTD to a variety of Smartphones. The issue is that the
voice messages will not play on either WM3 or WM5. Is there a special CODEC
we need to download or another trick to get these to play?

Any other experiences with Unified Messaging and Smartphones are also
appreciated.

Thanks,
Hal Michael

Hal,

I had the same problem using an AVAYA unified messaging solution and despite
the attachment being a WAV file it wouldn't play. I've not yet tried it
using my new WM2005 phone but will do. Somebody once told me to download a
media player called something like TMTP and it played just about every
audio/video codec I threw at it but again I never tried the AVAYA WAV file.

Hi Richard. Thanks for the post. I have an i-Mate SP5m (WM5) and it
doesn't play the Cisco files. It must be non-standard encoding and thus
needing a special Codec but I haven't figured it out yet. Good luck with
your Avaya system and I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Hal Michael: Did you ever find a solution to the problem of not being able
to play Cisco .wav files on your SmartPhone? I have the same problem and
would love some info if you have it.
