I'm using a Freecom external hardrive on my Acer laptop. I always plug my
Extrenal into a specific USB port that was assigned as drive "F".

After restarting my computer one day, the External was now assigned as drive
"H".

All my music/media is on my external and programs like Windows Media and
iTunes can now not locate drive "F".

Please could you inform me as to manually re-assign the drive back to "F".

Thanks,

CD

This group is for Windows Media Center discussion, your post would be more
on topic in the xp.general group.
You can assign drive letters using the Disk Management utility, right click
"My Computer" and select "Manage".

In Windows (not Media Center interface).
While your external drive is plugged in.
Start | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Computer Management

In Computer Manager, Storage | Disk Management.

Right Click the volume that is your external drive | Change Drive letter and
path.
See the window click the Change button and make it what ever unused drive
letter you wish.
