Hi there,

All of our computers are in a Windows 2003 AD. Currently we have a member
server running certificate service as Enterprise root CA, and other Internet
services get certificate from the CA server. Now I wanna transfer the
certificate service to another member server and shut down the computer
forever. I don't know how to set up CA service on another member server, as
Enterprise root CA or Enterprise subordinate CA and then transfer.

Thank you so much for your help.

Ray

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your help. That article does help me out, though there are
some error when I tried to resotre database. If position of CA is not same
as the original one, some error will show up and CA restore insist I did
increasement back up before so rejected to do restore. At last, I copied
those CA database from the old server and modified registery table manually,
CA on new server works.

Would you please help me on antoher question? The step asked I had to use
the same name of the old server on the new server, is it possible to change
CA computer name?

Thank you very much.

Ray

microsoft.public.windows.server.general,

microsoft.public.windows.server.security,

microsoft.public.windows.server.setup,

microsoft.public.windows.server.update_services

btw.. Ray... in the future... could you please not crosspost the same
question to four different newsgroups, especially ones that have absolutely
no bearing on the subject -- like
microsoft.public.windows.server.update_services. <??>

Pick one.... and if you get referred out from there, you'll be in the right
newsgroup.

Thank you.
