Cannot dial numbers synchronised with Outlook2003 Arthur 01-11-2006

When I store telephone numbers in Outlook 2003 I have the facility to add
the country, the area code and the number.
So in Outlook 2003 you get four fields
Country/Region
City/areacode
Local Number
Extension

When this number gets transferred to the mobile device it shows as
+44(01234)123456

The phone will not dial this number until it is edited to +441234123456

Is there any way to overcome this without manually editing all contacts?

I think there's a utility that will try to do this. Shouldn't take too long
to edit manually unless you have thousands of cantacts.

All of my numbers (in Outlook) are of the form +44 (1234) 567890

Thanks for the reply
But if your Outlook contacts are stored in the format you say can you dial
them from your phone?

Yes (at least, on both the SPVs I've had).

That's interesting. So it may be the phone? I'm using a T-Mobile MDA Vario
with WM5.
How do your numbers look when stored in the phone ? Or is that what you are
referring to above ?
