Hi,

Taking into account indexing 240000 files (which WDS says is 273000 files)
took ages, can we back up the index? Or will a restore of the index render
the file useless?

AFAIK, even through the latest 2.6.5 the index can not be backed up and
restored... ReIndex appears to be the only viable recovery option.
