I just downlaoded the final of msn toolbar search (02.01.000.2214).

I cannot chnage any of teh adavced optiosn for desktop saerch. It keep
saying that desktop search is not running, even though it does index, and
does search correctly.
It also warns in another section tha I need to unistall and reinstall this,
and I have once already, but stil the same error

Any help would be appericated

I did manage to come up with a workaround:

I used the "windows enbaler" program
http://www.angelfire.com/falcon/speedload/index.html

It allowed me to choose form the dimmed controls and Desktop search seemed
to take those options.

I can't use any text entry forms with that, so the section where you specify
text file typs to search i still can't edit.

Anyone know where this info is kept? I poked around the registry and could
not find it

I have exactly the same problem. I can't change the options. It says that
desktop search isnb't running (although it is). It also says that the search
software did nbor install properly, and to re-install. Reinstallation and
rebooting does not help.

Hopefully a fix or a beter workaround will be posted. I'll keep you updated
if i discover where these settinsg are kept. There has to be some file you
could edit by hand to enbale this options

I tried that software. I told it to index a particular folder on my D drive.
When I clicked on the Apply button, I got an error sound, but nothing else
happened. This program will not be very helpful to me if it will not index
parts of my D drive.

Uninstall/reinstall did not work forme, either.
