Can't Change Sync Options Zecarioca 12-19-2005

I have Active Sync 3.8.0 connecting to a Pocket Pc with Windows Mobile 2003
Second Edition Version 4.2.1088. I sync with Outlook 2002 only.

Out of the blue, the sync process keeps defaulting to not having any
programs checked in the Tools-Options dialog box. Previously, I had
contacts, calendar, and notes checked, but even after I check them, when I
resync, it still defaults to them being unchecked.

Also, when I check "notes", I get a message stating "synchronization cannot
be started because you are not able to log on to the network...." Once I
check calendar and contacts, those sync ok. This problem started without any
settings change.

Any thoughts? thanks

Hi,

Have you tried recreating the partnership?

1. Disconnect the PPC from the computer.
2. In Activesync -> File -> Delete Partnership.
3. Connect the device and follow the onscreen
instructions to setup a new partnership.

I have tried changing and deleting the partnership but that did not help.

This might be occuring due to some corruption in the Outlook pst file. Try
running the Scanpst utility to check for any corruption in the PST file (the
file that stores your Outlook data). Search for scanpst.exe on your
computer.

You will need to run it against the .pst file. If you are unable to locate
the path of the .pst file, do the following:

1. Open Outlook.
2. Click File -> Data File Management
3. This should list all the PST files that are present. Click Open Folder
and you should find the storage path of your *.pst file.

Also take a look at these sites to troubleshoot the problem -

Thanks for you replies. I managed to solve the problem with the notes files,
but I still cannot solve the initial problem of having the ActivSync:
Tools-Options-Sync Options defaulting to having all Mobile Device items (i.e.
calendar, contacts etc) unchecked even after I check some.
