 Hello,

I am using WDS 2.6.5.5378 and MSN Toolbar 2.6.0.2057. Indexing works fine
(except that in folder Desktop Search\My-UserId\Temp\rssgthrsvc huge amount
of temp folders and files remain, possibly because of som IFilter?).

My problem ist that .exe files will not be found in the folders that are
indexed. E.g. I search for abc and the search result is abcxyz-some folder,
abcxyz1.doc and abcxyz2.xls. But the file abcxyz.exe is not found.

My solution is not what I want to have, I also have to run the XP Indexing
Service. When I use this to find files, also abcxyz.exe is found.

Does anyone have an idea how to configure WDS so .exe files are found?

 I had the same issue and checked the settings in WDS. It actually
excludes .exe files from indexing by default. To turn this off go to
Desktop Search Options... click Advanced, and then in the filetype list
for "Do not index files of this type", delete ".exe;" from the list.

Wow, that really works! For me it was not clear, that this entry not only
controls what files are content-indexed, but also which filenames are
included in the index.
