I've heard that there have been some changes in the windows arena and RIM
may be offering some of the Blackberry functions on WM phones? Can anyone
confirm this or is using it? Also it looks like ROGERS is going to dump a
lot of money into pushing windows mobile phones in an attempt to make RIM
willing to negotiate on their blackberry pricing. I'm wondering if it's
feasible to get away from the Blackberry's in our office and go with some
Windows Mobile phones???

I would say the answer is most certainly. WM6 devices can synchronise with
Exchange over the internet (via GPRS, EDGE, 3G or WiFi) and therefore you'll
get emails "pushed" to your WM6 phone when out and about.

You can also configure standard POP3/STMP email access on almost any mobile
phone nowadays - I use that to pickup my Google Mail. Works a treat and with
WM6, it can display most of the files I need to display, e.g. Word, PPT,
PDF.

I must admit I've never used a Blackberry device in earnest but I must say I
do like the my HTC S710. Price wise though, I'd guess that some Blackberry
handsets are cheaper.

Cheers, Rob.

Just to be clear, WM6 supports push email from an Exchange server, but
does not support push from a POP3 or IMAP server, only an automated
sync.

I know there's a technical difference but to the end user, the effect is the
same if you ask the POP3 client to check for email every minute.

Cheers, Rob.

For most users, sure. However, some power users (I've meet a few)
use email for an almost IM like conversation, and they demand true
push email, they claim even one minute polling is too slow.

(And of course, one minute polling uses more bandwidth, generally)
