Hi,

We want our corporate email to be pushed to our smart phone users. I read
somewhere that Exchange 2003 has this feature but wireless carriers didn't
support it.

With the new Treo 700, will we be able to push incoming emails so that our
users get their emails in their Treo 700's in real time?

Thanks,

Sam

Not yet. The feature is waiting on an update to the Phone OS called AKU2. It
is already in place in Exchange 2003 SP2. I believe there is only one phone
out at this point that has the requisite update. The catch is that the OEM
of the device must provide the update, it will not come from MS. Badger Palm
or your carrier for info of when it will be available for your Treo.

Right now I'm able to "push" e-mail/outlook updates through Verizon's
Wireless Sync software. It's not *exactly* in real-time and it requires
desktop software (not a direct sync) but it works reasonably well.

Sam you can configure your devices to pick up email from your exchange
server using activesync. The minimum time scales you can set this to is
every 5 mins for receive and immediate for send. Ultimately the changes
in SKU 2.0 will be using Activesync in this fashion only receive will
be immediate aswell. Plus you will be able to remotely manage the
device. I would suggest looking to configure your Exchange Activesync
environment just now and running with 5 minute picks, this will give
you easier transition when the Push Technology is released.
