Is there any way to change the color/style of a drop-down box's border
using CSS?

I'm familiar with similar changes to text fields, but the drop down
(select list) seems to resist.

Thanks,

I'm not aware of any active groups dedicated specifically to CSS. If
you know of one, please let me know and I will post there.

Lacking that, this seems to be the closest match and most likely to
have someone reading who is familiar with the topic area.

IIRC browser support for styling <select> elements is limited (and
varies per browser, and maybe OS)

thanks Joost, "I'm there"!

(Silly me, I was looking for a group with "CSS" in the title).
