Please log in for more thread options
the Certificate Services service fails to start on our Windows Server 2003
box. The event being written to the system log is:
Event ID: 7024
Source: Service Control Manager
Description: The Certificate Services service terminated with
service-specific error 2148073494.
I have confirmed that the local administrators group has full control access
to %System Drive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys folder and that it is also the owner.
I noticed that within the HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft key, there
is no Cryptography subkey. So I created the Cryptography\Providers key there
and have scheduled a reboot for tonight in the hope that following the
reboot the
HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers\Type 001 will
get created and all will be well again.
This is all based on what I've been able to find in the MS Knowledgebase so
far and is all I know.
Just want to see if anyone here knows more about this particular issue and
if you have additional insight to offer.
Thanks
