Browser problem with secure websites Kent 12-14-2006

Hi,

I have a Blackjack w/Cingular service. When I use the Explorer browser on it
to go to secure websites such as: my army email account, I can log in, then
when I click on an email, it kicks me back out to the log in page. On a bank
site, it will log me in, then it will say "retrieving data" but never do so.
Same issues with other secure type websites. However, on my brother's
Blackberry on Sprint he can get into these sites.

My browser does not give me error messages. I cannot log into cingular.com
to my account even as once I enter my user name/password, it begins to
download but stops (status bar goes half way across the screen, then stops).
Seems that it is having some problem as it communicates to secure sites.
Non-secure sites are not an issue. All Cingular settings are checked and
correct.

Any solutions, explanations appreciated as not sure I should keep the device
if these limitation are inherent or cannot be resolved.

Hi,

Pocket Internet Explorer does not have the required SSL to access
secure websites. You will have to invest in a robust alternative like
Opera 8.6 (www.opera.com). With Opera, I have no problem with internet
banking, ebay and accessing secure websites in multiple windows.

However the Blackjack is not in the list of supported devices. But
there is no reason for Opera not to work on your Smartphone. A trial is
available anyway(http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/products/).

Hope this helps.

Thanks - I will do that. It amazes me that on a new device - using Microsoft
software, that my browser has a limitation (or problem) built in it.

Maybe that is why most of my friends (and Cingular customer tech support)
recommended a Blackberry.

Merry Christmas.

I'm happy that Microsoft left Windows CE platform open for the
developer community to come up with solutions like Opera. It is my
opinion that Blackberry was an innovation and check out
www.pocketpcfreewares.com and you'll get an idea why so many people
just love their Windows mobile powered devices.

Merry Christmas to you too and be safe.
