Anyone know of a third party add-on that will allow bluetooth to work with a
BMW. According to BMW, Microsoft phones will NEVER work with BMW unless the
manufacturer and/or Microsoft includes their version as part of the
software.

Thanks.
Lorne.

Not true. You are correct in that if both sides strictly adhere to standards
things 'should' work. This doesn't appear to be the norm with MS Smartphones
and commercial car handsfree sets. You can do numerous searches of the net
that corroborate that. I personally have two cars with the same factory
handsfree set that is made by Johnson Controls under the name UConnect. It
does not work with either my SMT5600 or MPX220. The car sets work fine with
T610s and with a Razr. It bugs the heck out of me as I prefer to use my
SMT5600, but am forced to use a standard BT headset (Bluetrek G2) instead of
the convenience of the in-car system.

It's obvious that one of the two sides of the needs to fix something. In
this case I believe it is MS as neither of the SP work, but the car set
works with other phones. The commonality is in the failure is the MSD
handsfree implementation.

I have found reports that the car sets made by Parrot, one of which can be
seen at http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=CK3300 do work with MS
Smartphones. That's not really acceptable though for someone that has a
factory BT set in a BMW already.
