Blank line precedes prompt

I use Term::Readline and Term::Readline::Perl

When I upgraded from Perl 5.8.6 to Perl.5.8.8, the behavior of
Term::Readline changed:
Now, the prompt generated by the readline method is preceded by two
newlines. Is there a workaround to avoid the blank line?
