Well... I'm still trying to find a way out of the SP3 valley. After trying
the fixes below, my HP processor turns on, but the monitor is black.

I tried the following:
1) Uninstalled Norton360
2) Downloaded Windows XP update (KB953356)
3) Reinstalled SP3
4) Ran "sc config intelppm start= disabled"

Is there no fix out there? Is my HP dead?

Anybody want to buy two-year-old HP Media Center... CHEAP!! :-(

Probably you'd do better in a general Windows XP newsgroup.

Is the monitor black during the POST? If so then the problem is not in
Windows.

You could also look for obvious things, like unplugged cables or power
cords :-)

Actually, I think the problem might be the BIOS. I'm going to check it this
evening.

Or the hardware (dead video card, etc.).

Can you get into - and see - the BIOS setup normally (F2, Delete, F10 -
whatever your computer requires)?

Maybe you can justify buying a new computer (that tends to be my
approach to all problems!).

Good luck, it can't be fun at this moment.
