I've seen a few sites that claim to distribute HOSTS lists to blackhole
spyware sites. One notable one is at http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.txt
Unfortunately a lot of these files appear to just be attempts to block all
web ads. Does anyone maintain a list of blacklisted sites that are only
being used for malicious spyware, and not trying to block all advertising on
the Internet?

I assure you that hosts file is intended to block spyware.

A large percentage of spyware is related to advertizing sites, which is why
a list of known spyware and adware sites would contain a lot of advertizing
web sites. Maybe you're thinking of things like keystroke logger Trojans as
being spyware, which are not exactly what I would classify as spyware.
