Ok...here's a doozy of a problem...

I am currently using a Treo 700wx Windows Mobile 5 device with a 3rd-party
hosted exchange service provider to wirelessly synchronize my contacts,
calendar, email, tasks, etc. (and also push my email to my device) between my
Treo and my PC (running Outlook 2003 SP2) and to also be able to access all
of my Outlook data via Outlook Mobile Access (OMA), Outlook Web Access (OWA),
or the hosted exchange service provider's customized version of OMA called
Outlook Smart Access (OSA).

For the most part, everything seems to work pretty well, but I just noticed
what could be a potentially annoying problem. When viewing contacts on my
Treo, all the birthdays and anniversaries are off by one day. Basically, my
birthday is 4/20/81, and in Outlook it shows up correctly, but if you view my
contact on the Treo, it shows up as 4/19/81. My parents anniversary is
8/22/76, and once again it shows up correctly in Outlook but on the Treo it
shows up as 8/21/76. So far, this seems to be pretty uniform for all my
contacts with either a birthday and/or anniversary attached to them - they
show up correctly in Outlook but one day off on the Treo. Anyone have any
idea why this might be happening, and any easy way to fix it? Thanks!

Any chance the Treo Timezone is off? All day appointments/events sometimes
get messed up if the translation from the universal time the item is stored
in crosses a day boundary when it is adjusted for your TZ.

All my other appointments come through correctly. I just checked, and my
time zone is determined by the cellular carrier (per a setting being
checked), but it appears correct. it's a bit weird, because it's set to
GMT-5 Indian (USA) instead of GMT-5 Eastern US...but I imagine both should
work since both are GMT-5

Ah, not necessarily. The reason there are multiple entries for some Time
Zones is because of the differences in when, or if, the area observes
daylight savings time. I believe most WM devices have the option somewhere
of not letting the carrier change the TZ and or time. Unfortunately on the
PC you get the option of checking DST or not, a feature that does not exist
on the PDA. If the PC does not go into DST and the PPC does, or vice versa,
it will throw all the appointments off an hour. Not for sure this is what is
causing your B'Day issue, but it is one thing that can.

Are you in Indiana BTW? I looked it up. There seems to be some interesting
history in Indiana about DST and the state is in two time zones.

Beats me what setting you should really have.

Well, I went through Outlook and "changed" each birthday and anniversary (and
by that I mean I wiped out what was there, and then put in exactly what had
been there again). This apparently let Exchange re-synchronize each birthday
and anniversary with my mobile device and now they all appear to be correct
on my mobile device...very weird though!
