Hi,
I'm trying to hook up a mobile device (equipment to measure water
properties) to my laptop. I've installed ActiveSync 4.5 and the software
required for the equipment (Win-Situ 4.0). The equipment is attached through
a serial port adapter to one of my USB ports.
Both the Win-Situ and ActiveSync do not see the connection. The ActiveSync
icon in the status bar is faint (not highlighted). However, if I try
"Connect" in ActiveSync, the screen says:
COM1 - Not Installed
COM2 - Not Installed
COM3 - Available
COM4 - Available
Infrared Port - Not Installed
USB - Available
If I go to My Computer -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Ports (COM/LPT), the
only device I can see is: Belkin Serial on USB Port (COM4)
I've tried every troubleshooter and read every related question I could
find. One of the suggestions was to configure and/or turn off Norton
Firewall. Nothing works.
Any ideas? What else should I try? Where should I look for more help?
Any suggestions or help would be greately appreciated - as I can't get my
job done.
