Hi,

I'm a .NET CF developer that currently is using Active Sync 4.1 to
connect different devices to PC.
I usually have got one device, and perform regular backups with AS
"Backup/Restore" option.

The problem is I'm now testing my application against different
devices, and I want to backup them all. When connecting a second
device, after selecting "Backup/Restore" from AS, I cannot change the
path to the file in my PC where AS backup all data of the device.

I suppose this action will overwrite my earlier backup (of the first
device) and I don't want that. I need different backup files, one per
device.

Alll devices connect as "Guest". In fact, I cannot select any
partnership with this AS version. Can this cause to be only one file
for backing up info.

I would really appreciate any hints on making different backups for
different devices.

Thanks very much in advance.

Hi,

If you click Backup/Restore -> Restore tab sheet -> Restore Now -> You
should be provided with the option of restoring an earlier partnership. If
the backup files are in another folder, you can use the Browse window to
select the file.

The Backup/Restore option is not provided with WM 5.0 devices.

Thanks for your reply,

The problem is that I only have got one partnership for all connected
devices, "Guest" partnership.
Therefore, if I click Browse button, I can only see a .stg file. Then
makes sense that when I perform a backup for a new device, the earlier
backup for other device is overwritten. I could be in the situation of
restoring a Windows Mobile 2003 PPC with a Windows Mobile 2003 SE
restore.

I think I've got a big problem here.

Thanks again.
