I agree with Dave, though data may not be lost thanks to persistent memory,
many hours of work is required to return a device to functionality when a
poorly designed or malicious program corrupts the device. Before installing
dangerous 'pre-alpha' applications, it is necessary to backup the device.
Intentionally removing this functionality from ActiveSync seems more like a
business decision than a technical one, and makes life harder for
developers.
I now have to go with Don's Sprite suggestion and purchase, qualify,
maintain, CPIN, and document another software tool from another manufacturer
and qualify the manufacturer as well. :(
