Hi I'm unable to listen to music in media center. Whenever I select My Music
from the start page it gives me an error saying specified cast is not valid.
Does anyone know what causes this or how to fix it? Any help would be
appreciated.
Thanks

No, Windows Media Player works fine. It only happens in Media Center. I'm
using Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 service pack 2 (that's
what it says in System Properties but I think the upgrade CD actually said
version 2005) and Windows Media Player 10. It's worked fine for over a year
now and then just started giving me this error.

what happens when you do a system restore to a point before the
error started? do things work again? if yes, some update or newly
installed program is the culprit.

Well I recently downloaded a WMP update so I first tried uninstalling that
without any success. So then I tried the system restore like you said and
after doing several restores going back as far as a month it still wasn't
working. The problem with system restores is that I haven't used the My Music
in Media Center in a while so I don't know for sure when it stopped working
or how far back I would need to go. The only major change I've made to my
system lately is when I upgraded my processor a couple of months ago.
However, I don't think that could be causing the problem because everything
else on my computer (even in media center) is working fine.
