Any REAL Fix to Active Sync Desktop Error Message???? Ryan 04-02-2007

Hi,

I see a number of people here have had the same problem and can't seem
to find a solution here or at Microsort.com. I will throw my name into
the hat as someone frustrated as heck with Active Sync these days.

I have used it for years with my PocketPC at the office and home
without any issues. About a month ago I made the horrid mistake of
upgrading to the current version (4.5?). I have no idea what version I
used before, but it worked and this one doesn't.

When I try and get the Pocket PC's to sync I will get the following
error message at some point in the process:

ActiveSync Encountered a Problem with the desktop
Support Code: 85010014

I have tried EVERYTHING on Microsoft.com and here and nothing resolve
this issue. For weeks, I have been unable to sync my PocketPC (a Dell)
with either of my machines because of this problem with the "new"
Active Sync and since I don't have a disk for the old one (must have
downloaded) I can't roll back to the old version.

I see alot of people are getting the same message. I have uninstalled
and reinstalled and actually gotten it to sync ONCE and then the error
message comes up again and I am shot from there on.

Is there ANY solution to this? I am on Windows XP.

Thanks!

If you were using your previous version of ActiveSync for a few years it is
likely that it was version 3.x. You may try to install ActiveSync 3.8, the
latest from the 3.x series. You can download it from hpcfactor at
http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/syncsoft/activesync/#Download
Higher versions of ActiveSync do not support or do not work well with older
pocket PC operating systems.
