 The pure Perl module Getopt::Simple V 1.48
is available immediately from CPAN,
and from http://savage.net.au/Perl-modules.html.

On-line docs, and a *.ppd for ActivePerl are also
available from the latter site.

An extract from the docs:

1.48 Sun Nov 07 14:30:00 2004
        - Add sub pad() to simplify printing of fixed width fields.
                Original patch: Ricardo Signes.
                Since this is the only change, there is no need to upgrade
