After uploading to PAUSE Tom 10-23-2005

Dear all,

I have uploaded the tar ball of "Math::Amoeba" to the PAUSE server, but
it does not appear in the CPAN.

May I ask whether there is follow-up to do after uploading? Or it will
just wait a few minutes to appear in CPAN?

Thanks in advance.

Tom

How did you do the upload? If you did it from the web page, you should
be OK - wait a few minutes (to a few hours). If you uploaded the file
separately, you need to go to the web page and tell PAUSE what it is
that you've uploaded.

You should get two or three confirmatory messages from PAUSE - if you
don't, you've not done something right.

Digging in my email archive, here's a prototype of the three PAUSE
emails to me for the previous edition of DBD::Informix (mid-March 2005).
The email subject lines separate the messages.

Subject: Notification from PAUSE

JOHNL (Jonathan Leffler) visited the PAUSE and requested an upload into
his/her directory. The request used the following parameters:

pause99_add_uri_httpupload [DBD-Informix-2005.01.tar.gz]
SUBMIT_pause99_add_uri_httpupload [ Upload this file from my disk ]

The request is now entered into the database where the PAUSE daemon will
pick it up as soon as possible (usually 1-2 minutes).

During upload you can watch the logfile in
https://pause.perl.org/pause/authenquery?ACTION=tail_logfile&pause99_tail_logfile_1=5000.

You'll be notified as soon as the upload has succeeded, and if the
uploaded package contains modules, you'll get another notification from
the indexer a little later (usually within 1 hour).

Thanks for your contribution,

Hi all,

The returned email of indexing is shown at the end of this email.
However, the CPAN search engine did not update that. Perhaps it is due
to the change of develop?

The module was original written by Dr. Williams, and now passed to me.
May I ask whether I need to tell the CPAN to match the module with the
tar ball I uploaded?

Thanks in advance.

Tom

If it's been indexed, you should be fine. It may take a while (read one
day to several days) for all CPAN replicas to catch up with it. They
are not all on an instantaneous transfer. However, if you choose one of
the key sites, you likely will find it there. I dunno how quickly
search.cpan.org catches up with it...but it shows you, TOM, as the
author - but the version is still 0.01 when I looked, dated 1995-12-29.

HI Jonathan,

Thanks a lot for your information. I was a bit nervous as it's my first
submitted module to CPAN. :)
