Hi,

After applying SP2 update on our Windows 2003 x64 server, the internet
explorer stopped working. DNS resolution works fine and so does ping.
Thinking that it might be browser(IE7) issue, I even installed Mozilla
Firefox but that seems to have same issue. Below is what works.

Works:
1. ping www.yahoo.com from a command promt of server. It does name
resolution find and pings out too.
2. Applications and traffic to internal network, local subnet etc.

Doesn't work:
1. IE7 unable to browse any sites via DNS name or the IP address
2. Firefox browser(installed after the issues came on board) to any sites
via name or the IP

Observations:
1. Unless I stop windows firewall service, I can't RDP to the box. Even
though the service has exclusion set for RDP.
2. I threw wire shark on the box and captured the traffic for internet. For
HTTP, it recceives the packet back but some how it doesn't reach to IE
application stack and it does retransmission.

I exhausted all my ideas. Any hints/helps is really appreciated.

Thanks,
Sam

I solved my problem. A google search told me to check my NIC driver since
SP2 updates driver file too. I downloaded latest HP NIC driver and installed
it. To my surprize, the problem got resolved.

Thanks,
Sam
