Adding Missing OTA Digital Channel Tye Blackburn 06-25-2007

I have a digital tuner (AVerMedia MCE A180) with the latest drivers. I can
successfully tune the over-the-air (OTA) digital signals from the local CBS,
PBS, NBC, and ABC affiliates. This includes adding their minor channels.
Receiving these channels were “no-brainers” as the computer knew the
frequency for the digital broadcast for these stations. However, for the
local Fox station the computer appears to be looking on the wrong frequency
for my location. The local Fox station broadcasts a digital signal on two
different frequencies depending on where you live. Specifically Fox 11.1
broadcasting on frequency 8 cannot be received at my house. However, I can
and do receive the local repeater station at frequency 36. Within Media
Center I cannot seem to change the frequency for 11.1, so I have manually
added digital channel 36.1 with a frequency of 36. The digital channel
signal strength wizard reports 100% reception of frequency 36, but when I
actually tune to the channel, all I get is a message that “There is currently
no TV signal detected for this channel.” What is really frustrating is I can
tune to 36.1 using other ASTC tuners and even the AVerMedia A180 using the
included software from AVerMedia. Unfortunately the AVerMedia software
doesn’t work with my Media Center Extenders (couple of Xbox 360s). This
appears to be a Media Center/Vista problem. Any suggestions?

Super. You got it in one. My post may have been cryptic, but your reply
was spot on and worked.

Thank you,

Tye.
