Where does Activesync find the number of emails that is has to synchronize?
I am using server Active sync and connect using USB or GPRS or WiFi

When I start the sync manually under
Exchange Server it says
Synchronizing folders
Then it shows
Looking for changes
Then
E-mail: 0/7
...and it syncs OK but no email is downloaded and there is also no email in
my inbox when I view it through Outlook 2003 on my PC.

If I then send a test email to myself it shows
E-mail 0/8
And then downloads the test email to the PPC.
If I delete it and then re-sync it goes back to displaying
E-mail 0/7

Why does it think that there are 7 non-existent emails to download ? Where
is it picking up this information?

It gets it from two places. The numbers of items on the device to sync and
the number of changes on the server.

On the device side, there may be items stuck in the outbox or deleted items
folders.

I have emptied deleted items and also checked that the outbox is empty.
Still the same.

It alway has 7 items remaining I just ran a sync and it said it was going to
change 24 items. This worked just fine. The mail in my inbox now looks
identical on the PC to the PPC. But if I run a sync again it still says
email 0/7

I seem to have resolved this now.
I don't know why I didn't try this before.
Just unchecked all items to sync. Then synced.
Then re-selected inbox and all is OK.
