Need help with figuring out a recurring problem- I have a Treo 700wx
(Personal phone- not work supplied) that I have configured to synch with the
office Exchange Server.

Periodically- it will stop honoring the peak and non peak scheduling
settings, and starts synching e-mails every 5 minutes or so.

The only way I've found to fix this is to restore the phone to an earlier
backup I made where I know it is working. This is a huge pain because it
duplicates calendar and contact entries.

How can I determine why Activesync is doing this and fix it?

The phone is a Verizon phone- Windows Mobile 5.1.1.195 build 14932.2.2.2,
software version TREO700WX_-1.22-VZW

Hi,
Do you have the latest rom installed on the 700WX? Rom updates are usually
the way that fixes for problems you described are delivered.

Hi Chris,

Where \ how would I go about checking this? Verizon's site doesn't list any
updates, and Treo's site only listed an update to a network connectivity
problem- which I installed in case it contained any fixes.

Beyond that- the only other fix I've installed was the DST fix.

Thanks,

David

Hi,
I would suggest that you contact Verizon about the issue. Also, I recently
saw a problem on one of my Pocket PCs where the peak and non-peak was turned
off. I have not been able to pinpoint what caused it. Once I turned it
back on and used Activesync to force a sync, it worked ok.

I've done that in the past with other problems- and Verizon's help has been
less than helpful WRT things like that. Their default answer is to transfer
me to Palm, who then tells me to contact my IT Dept because they "think" it's
a company phone. (Even after I tell them it's mine several times. ;) )

Don't get me wrong- Verizon is great for anything line or service related-
they just seem to be hands off with things like this.

Anyway- what's really strange about this is that I tried reinstalling
ActiveSync 4.5 on both of the computers I sync with- my personal laptop and
my corp box at my job. I figured I'd try this before biting the bullet and
restoring from a known good backup.

Strangely enough today it decided to start working again- I noticed it
because I hadn't set the corp box to manual like I had my phone and my home
laptop.

I know it was working properly because I checked it a few times throughout
the day and the sync times matched the expected interval, mail arrived when I
thought it was on manual- and I had over 60% battery at the EOD compared to
20-30% while it was acting up.

I'm going to watch it for the next few days to see if it continues to
behave- I don't know why reinstalling ActiveSync would've fixed it since it
didn't appear to redownload anything to the phone other than mail.

I'd still be interested in any other thoughts or ideas so that if it happens
again I don't have to reinstall ActiveSync or restore the phone?
