Activesync and outlook "internet format" resetting... ChinaLamb 05-25-2008

Every time that I edit a contact on my smartphone (Windows Mobile 5.1) then
sync with outlook (bluetooth sync, Outlook 2007, Vista SP1) My contacts in
outlook settings - "Internet Format" "Let Outlook Decide" gets reset to
"Rich Text format".

This then drops me into Winmail.dat hell with my emails - as everyone gets
the RTF formatted email with the Winmail attachment.

I reset all my contacts to "Let outlook decide" BUT If I ever change one of
these contacts on my smartphone then sync again - It switches the format
back to RTF.

I have been tracking this problem for months and finally figured it out!!!
The outlook group said I need to post here... Which team should I talk to
about this bug????

PLEASE HELP ME~!!!

Thanks!

Hi,

Just a little confused as you mention ActiveSync in your subject line yet
you seem to be running Vista on your PC. AFAIK, this bug was fixed in
ActiveSync 4.5 version. Refer -
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/raj/MailFormat.html however if you are running
Vista, you would need to be running WMDC. The latest version can be
downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx

Sorry, problem is NOT gone. It just isn't happening as regularly now, but
my contacts are still flipping state - from Let outlook decide - to Rich
Text.

I am REALLY mad at Outlook and Device Sync - (Honestly, the same problems
happened with Active sync - and it is probably mostly the same code...)

I am so tired of people telling me that they cannot read my email messages.

I am really tired of resetting all my contacts all the time.

I am really tired of trying to hunt down a different problem with microsoft
software every day because people don't know how to program.

WHY isn't there just an override switch to make all emails ALWAYS send out
via HTML???

This is INSANITY!!!

PLEASE HELP!

There is. "Tools" > "Options" > "Mail Format" > "Compose in this
message format:".
