Ive had all the problems listed by many members in this forum. And ive tried
the re-install - reboot - kick - scream route to fix it.

My sync had usb driver errors and hanged at the 'looking for changes' screen.

The only thing that works for me is to remove my sd and transflash memory
expansion cards and then the sync works fine.

I know its not perfect and you shouldnt have to do it, but its better than
nothing !

Its something else to try !

Lets hope Activesync 4.xxx future solves this !

Give us a little more detail on this. Your Windows Mobile device has slots
for SD and Transflash devices, both of which are populated on your PPC (or
whatever)? When those slots have accessories in them, AS won't work, but,
if you remove them, AS does work? Any programs on those devices which are
running on your device when this happens, or do they just contain data files
(pictures, media, whatever)? Give detailed information on the accessories
(manufacturer, size, speed, if appropriate). These are *just* storage
devices? Not wireless adapters or something?

What is the Windows Mobile device? Make, model, operating system version,
etc.?

What about the desktop? OS? Version?

Im using a HP IPAQ Hx2790 Pocket PC with Mobile 5 and all 3 Rom/Bios updates
installed from the HP support site. The cards are used for data files etc.
The SD card (1GB) has work documents but no programs, the compact flash 1GB
card (sorry compact flash not trans flash.) has pictures and media files on,
again no programs. The device has bluetooth, Wi-fi but both expansion cards
are just for storage.

If the device has the cards in place then it will connect to active sync and
not complete. hangs at 'looking for changes'

remove both cards and active sync completes no probs. I've not got media
files sync'ing so its not a resolution error and believe me ive tried many
varients of settings within activesync.

Another major issue is the HP protect tools for the biometric fingerprint
scanner. If you have this enabled then active sync will fail 8 out of 10
times. Disable and away you go. Bit cheesed off that it wont work really !

Spec of device:

Hope thats enough details. if you want anymore then just ask. ive been
plying around with this now for many days !

Unless you are syncing files *to those cards*, I can't explain that part of
the problem. If you are syncing files to the cards, that could, conceivably
be the problem. You are using just plain ActiveSync, or you have one or
more third-party sync extensions installed?

As for the HP fingerprint thing, that's not a MS problem. Contact HP on
that one. It's not even a standard device type, as I recall, so it's *all*
under HP control.
