I am a remote worker for a corporation that requires VPN in order to work
online with Exchange. I have learned painfully that I cannot use my 8125 in
this environment, at least that's what I am experiencing. The MS support
page simply says to upgrade to AS 4.1, which I am already running. I can
connect fine without the VPN, but AS errors because it will not sync with
Outlook in offline mode. Once I connect the VPN tunnel, the connection to
the 8125 is lost.

Any advice before I return this? My only other option if I have to return
it is a Treo, and I really don't want to do that. TIA

Is it possible to bypass the VPN connection? I setup a user at my work who
has the 8125 but we don't use VPN. The 8125 is a nice phone and I think the
Treo is a step in the wrong direction. Why do you think the Treo will
behave differently?

As far as I remember PPTP VPN client you're probably using essentially
disables all network interfaces except for itself for security reasons. WM
5.0 devices connected via USB emulate network adapters, so once VPN is up AS
is down. I'm not sure you can (or should) disable this VPN behaviors, but
you can try connecting your device via, say, Bluetooth so it won't be
disabled by VPN.

I had the same problem on my Moto Q and it works fine with Intellisync
instead of Activesync.
