Hey there :-)

I`ve recently bought a Windows mobile 2005 smartphone. Connected it
first to my office PC, running Vista Business. "Smartphone" drive
appeared in explorer, I could even deploy and debug test .NET CF 2.0 app
on device from VS 2005. But all my attempts to get the device to work
with my home Win XP Pro SP2 PC have failed. I`ve download latest build
of ActiveSync 4.2 from microsoft.com, connected the same USB cable.
Sometime ActiveSync will tell me I need a newer version, or just "Cannot
connect to the Windows Mobile powered device" or will display
"Connecting..." forever.

Any help is more than welcome.

Has the syncing on XP ever worked? You may want to try deleting any
partnerships you have through ActiveSync (File - Delete Mobile Device)
You can see if there are any other (perhaps corrupt) partnerships by
doing File - Mobile Device.
