Have any of you folks ever gotten a Windows Mobile device to ActiveSync with a
PC using Bluetooth?

I have a laptop with BT built in. I can get it to connect to a Nokia mobile
phone, I could get it to see a BT enabled PDA but I could not get ActiveSync to
see the PDA, no matter what I tried. The PDA could also see the laptop but I
could never get the two to connect and establish an ActiveSync session.

If there are any secret ways of accomplishing this feat then I'm all ears (well,
eyes as this is a newsgroup).

Yes. I rarely sync with cables- I use IR with my older PDAs, and BT with
the newer ones.

Go into Activesync on the desktop and set it to use a serial port in the
"Connections" menu, and select whatever virtual COM port the assigns to the
BT hardware. Then set the PC to discoverable mode, and discover it from
the device, (not the other way around!) Then when you search for available
services on the discovered PC, "Activesync" should be available.

Yep, done that many a time. Still never wants to work.
