Hi there - I am trying to sync a client's i-mate JAZJAM (Windows Mobile =
V5.0) with his SBS 2003 (Standard)
Have followed the guide "Deploying Windows Mobile 5.0 with Windows Small =
Business Server 2003" from Microsoft, the error I am now receiving upon =
attempting "over-the-air" synchronizing is:
"Result:
Your account in Microsoft Exchange Server does not have permission to =
synchronize with your current settings. Contact your Exchange Server =
administrator."
The actual error (support) code is 0x85010004.
Other data:
a.. The server address in ActiveSynce on the device is the FQDN i.e. =
mail.xxxxxx.com (not mail.xxxxxx.com\exchange)
b.. I have created a self-signed certificate on the SBS that appears =
corrrectly as a root certificate on the device
c.. The user is a member of the "Mobile Users" group on the SBS
d.. I do not have the "Enforce password on device" option checked in =
Mobile Device Properties>Device Security Settings in Exchange System =
Manager
e.. OWA works perfectly
After googling this issue, =
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=3Dkb;en-us;919864&sd=3Drss=
&spid=3D1773,
it appears I may need a new version of massync.dll (6.5.7651.30). Has =
anyone had this issue and may have additional helpful information, =
and/or, does anyone know where I might get hold of this file?
Also, a couple of additional (albeit stupid) questions if I may:
a.. The client's phone has come with Outlook 2002 on the driver/manual =
disc. Is it necessary to install this?
b.. In the aforementioned guide, it shows you how to enable "Direct =
Push over HTTP(s)" in Exchange System Manager. I also have it as a Comms =
Manager option on the phone. Once I sort this issue out, is it necessary =
to have both of these Direct Push choices enabled to make the function =
work?
A little confused here!=20
Many thanks in advance,
Ashley

This is an authorization error and may have many reasons:
1. Mobile Access is not enabled for the server or for this specific =
user. Check the user's Exchange Features.
2. Wrong password
3. In the OMA alias or Microsoft-Server-Activesync alias in IIS someone =
has set specific IP address(es) as the only address(es) that can =
connect, and your address is not in the list....
This is what I can think of at the moment. But there are many =
combinations more.
