Calendar was syncing but the last couple days has become out of sync between
PDA and notebook.

ActiveSync completes, but when "View Status" is clicked, an OK dialog box
states:

ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop.

Support Code:85010001

The PDA is a Treo 700w. The notebook is a Dell Latitude D420, Windows XP
SP2 with all Critical and Recommended Updates, Active Sync 4.2, Outlook 2000
SP3 with all Office updates. Outlook has no email account; not using
Corporate/Exchange mode; only use Calendar and Contacts stored in a small
.pst located in C:\Outlook\ (moved from deep subdirectory of Documents and
Settings to see if the above status code would go away).

The notebook and user (with administrative rights on the notebook) are part
of an NT4 domain (no AD) but they don't connect to the Exchange 5.5 SP4
server.

I've uninstalled ActiveSync 4.2 and deleted the desktop profile
name/relationship on the PDA, installed ActiveSync 4.2 again specifying a
new desktop profile name/relationship, but the Calendar is still out of sync
and the status code still exists.

Any ideas what to try next?

Thanks,
Frank

Also, before reinstalling ActiveSync 4.2, I noticed that the Windows
Firewall exception named "File and Print Sharing" wasn't checkmarked, so I
checked it, but the problem persists.

Which now makes me wonder if the notebook's "Server" service needs to be
enabled; I'll try and report back.

Set the Server service to Automatic and rebooted, but problem persists.

Hello
I have exactly the same problem on my I-Mate SP5. Sync is OK via direct
connection (GPRS and WiFi), but when cradled 85010001 (http_400) occurs.

I'll investigate more, but please report if you resolve this!

Regards
David

Tomorrow I plan on running ScanPST.exe on the .pst file and seeing if I can
add the following program exceptions to the Windows XP Firewall:
wcesmgr.exe
wcescomm.exe
rapimgr.exe

Then I'll probably try an upgrade from Office 2000 to Office 2003.
