ActiveSync crashes and will not start

ActiveSync crashes and will not start Dave F. 08-26-2008

I have been unable to run AS 4.5 for over a week. If I try to start it from
the desktop it crashes. I get the error window that says "ActiveSync
Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for
the inconvenience." The error in the Windows application error log is
Faulting application WCESMgr.exe, version 4.5.5096.0, faulting moduel
WCESMgr.exe, version 4.5.5096.0, fault address 0x000a8fb2.. I can see the
files on the phone using Explorer but I can't sync. OS is Win XP Pro SP2.
PPC is Sprint HTC Mogul. I am using Outlook 2007 with BCM 2007.

Have you tried reinstalling ActiveSync?

I'm new at this and can't find AS listed in Add/Remove programs. What is the
best method for unistalling AS?

Hi Dave,

I think it would listed as Microsoft ActiveSync under Add/Remove programs..
if you are not able to find it, you can run the ActiveSync setup file once
again, you will get option to repair the installation. You may try that
option to see if it helps solve your issue.
